Walter Benn Michaels, geb. 1948. Michaels wurde 1975 an der University of California, Santa Barbara promoviert. Er lehrte an der Johns Hopkins University und der University of California, Berkeley bevor er 2001 Professor für Anglistik an der University of Illinois in Chicago wurde.
