Enlightenment in the World

International Conference

The Enlightenment, we are told today, was a Eurocentric project designed to impose European ideas on non-
European peoples in order to further colonialist projects. But do all those who come from what’s now called the Global South see matters this way? Through a
conference in cooperation with the Humboldt Forum, Berlin, a diverse group of voices from outside Europe will wrestle with these questions.

Speakers include Aziz Al Azmeh, Teresa Koloma-Beck, Bipasha Bhattacharya, Ibrahima Diop, Jonathan Keir, Sankar Muthu, Mithu Sanyal, Carlos Peña, Keidrick Roy, Olúfẹ́mi Táíwò, Raef Zreik, and others.
10:00-18:00 August 29 and 10:00-13:00 August 30 at the Einstein Forum,
Potsdam
19:00 August 30-19:00 August 31 at the Humboldt Forum Berlin
