Palestine and Holocaust Memory Politics
The talk will explore how the memory of the Holocaust is being deployed to expand Israel’s colonization of Palestine, including but not solely through the weaponization of charges of anti-Semitism to dismantle the movement for Palestinian rights.
Tareq Baconi is a writer. He serves as the president of the board of Al-Shabaka, The Palestinian Policy Network. Formerly, he was senior analyst for Israel/Palestine and Economics of Conflict at the International Crisis Group, based in Ramallah. His writing has appeared in the London Review of Books and the Washington Post among others. He is a frequent commentator in regional and international media and author of Hamas Contained: The Rise and Pacification of Palestinian Resistance (2018).
